On October 11, 2024, the Young Catechist Society organized its Interdepartmental Cate-Quiz contest in celebration of the month of the Holy Rosary. It took place at the Lower Bishop Cantillas Gym of Saint Joseph College with the theme: “Mary Most Holy: Inspiring Saints of All Ages.”

The contest drew students from across the various departments of Saint Joseph College, joining to witness the biblical knowledge of their department representatives. The atmosphere was both intense and lively as the eighteen (18) participants were seated and ready to engage in a friendly battle of wits, consisting of easy, average, and difficult rounds.

As the competition commenced, the crowd watched in anticipation. Each department exchanged their answers with their partners by whispering, ranging from biblical verses to the historical origins of the rosary and eucharist, while others wrote fast their answers before the bell rang.

As the competition reached its peak, the final difficult round approached, and tensions ran high among the remaining participants. The questions became more challenging, demanding quick thinking and a profound understanding of the Christian teachings: mysteries of the Holy Rosary and the significant works of the Saints.

A strong religious faith of the College of Teacher Education participants, Mr. Reymart Pasculado and Mr. Frederick Jason Alonso were declared as the winners in this year’s Interdepartmental Cate-Quiz. Ms. Julia Paloma and Mr. Jayreid Jualo from the College of Engineering and Architecture, and Ms. Lourie Mae Palco and Ms. Glysa Mae Udarbe from the College of Computer Studies were second and third placers, respectively.
