Junior and Senior students across different college departments of Saint Joseph College gathered at Hacbang Gym on February 11, 2025, for the Talk with SJC Alumni Topnotchers: A Symposium.
Hosted by Domingo Paler II and Lourei Joy Mata, the symposium featured alumni topnotchers from Saint Joseph College who shared their insights, personal experiences, and tips on how to pass the licensure exams.
The event was formally opened by Mr. Jhoremar M. Asis, LPT, MAEd, followed by the introduction of the speakers โ Niรฑo Danico P. Caberte, LPT, Top 3 of the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers; and Liza May C. Salas, RN, Top 6 of the November 2024 Philippine Nurses’ Licensure Examination.
Niรฑo and Liza spent their academic years in Saint Joseph College, starting out as an elementary student in 2008 and a junior high school student in 2014, respectively.
During the first segment, the guest speakers were asked by the hosts about their journey in aiming to become topnotchers. Both Niรฑo and Liza answered โyesโ, they wanted to become topnotchers which encouraged them to take their respective licensure examinations at an earlier schedule than they originally planned for.
When asked about the techniques they used for the boards, Niรฑo stated that he utilized the Pomodoro technique and the Group Study which helped him ace the boards. Liza, on the other hand, stated that note-taking and flashcards helped her in memory recall.
During the open forum, a student from the Accountancy Department asked for an advice or motivation about how they would motivate graduating students to take the licensure examination despite its level of difficulty.
โI think motivation would really come within us. Find out the why, on why you are pursuing that degree. Find the why to your how, to your steps. That reason becomes your motivation.โ Liza stated.
โTake your time. Find that pace that you believe you’re ready to take the exam.โ Niรฑo answered.
โAng buhay ay ‘di karera. Move forward according to your pace.โ Liza added.
When asked by Mr. Asis about a piece of advice or motivation that they could give to the future licensure examination takers, Niรฑo replied with his mantra in life, โDare to dream and never give upโ, while Liza quoted, โBe bold with your dreams, don’t limit it.โ
The event concluded with the giving of certificate and tokens, followed by the photo opportunity of the students across different departments along with the topnotchers.
