In light of the 97th Founding Anniversary of Saint Joseph College, the Office of Research and Development brought together students, deans, and faculty across different College Departments of Saint Joseph College at the Bishop Hacbang Gym on February 13, 2025, for the first Multidisciplinary Research Conference: A Symposia, themed “Research and Innovation: Driving Discovery and Impact.”

The presentation of the research topics was formally welcomed through a message delivered by Ma’am Jhoanne L. Costillas, EdD, VP for Academics and SHS Principal. In her speech, she reflected that the gathering was not only dedicated to celebrating past achievements, but also committed to pioneering new discoveries.

“These years of new research innovation, driving discovery and impact, further aid encapsulates the spirit of our gathering. We’re not merely here to celebrate past achievements. We’re here to forge new paths, to revolutionize the boundaries of knowledge, and to explore our research and to find the impact on the world,” said Ma’am Costillas.

Moderated by Ms. Eden May Auman, she introduced the keynote speaker for the conference, Dr. Louie P. Gula, LPT. In his speech, he shared instructional insights on how to make a meaningful research plan, encouraging the importance of empowering and motivating SJC faculty to engage in research: (1) the need for constant practice in drafting (2) conducting thorough research to define the style of writing (3) focus on a specific problem for clarity, and (4) setting clear objectives to guide the research process.

After each presenter elaborated individually on their respective research topics to the participants, an open forum followed, initiated by Mr. Arnold Dela Cruz, a faculty from the College of Engineering and Architecture Department. In his inquiry, he raised his question directly to the two presenters — Dr. Louie P. Gula, LPT and Mr. Chester B. Fernandez, LPT, MAEd.

The symposia featured research topics from Saint Joseph College faculty presenters who shared step-by-step their personal perspectives, strategies, and tips which were invaluable on how to make a research paper effectively.

Research presenters and topics are as follows:

Ronelo K. Juera, LPT, MAEd:
