Last April 2, 2025, the fourth-year Accountancy students of Saint Joseph College commenced their much-anticipated educational tour in Cebu City, held from April 2 to 4, 2025. Upon their arrival in the Queen City of the South, the students eagerly embarked on their first day of professional exposure and learning.
The day began with courtesy visits to two of the country’s leading accounting firms. Bus 1 proceeded to Punongbayan & Araullo Grant Thornton (P&A) while Bus 2 visited SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.), where the students were warmly welcomed and given an overview of the firm’s audit and advisory services and where they were introduced to the firms’ history, values, and its significant role in shaping the accounting profession in the Philippines.
In the afternoon, both groups converged for a visit to the Commission on Audit – Region VII. The students were given the opportunity to understand the constitutional mandate of COA, its organizational structure, and its vital function in promoting transparency and accountability in government transactions.
The students also took time to explore Cebu’s rich heritage by visiting Magellan’s Cross and the historic Basilica del Santo Niño, deepening their appreciation for the city’s cultural and spiritual significance.
Day 1 served as an inspiring and eye-opening experience, enriching the students’ understanding of the real-world application of their studies and encouraging them to pursue excellence in the field of accountancy.
