The Guidance and Counseling Center (G&CC) at Saint Joseph College plays a crucial role in enriching the educational experience of our students. By offering a range of essential services and activities, the Center is dedicated to nurturing a supportive environment that promotes each student’s holistic development and well-being. We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to creating a space where they can flourish academically, emotionally, and socially.

D. Appraising Service
- Individual Inventory aims to better understand the students’ personal and family background to assist and facilitate students’ adjustment, career decisions, life planning, and successful living.
- Testing Service has the primary aim to assess students’ academic performance for the proper placement and classification. Test examples are intellectual ability, emotional quotient, aptitude, interest, and personality.
- Placement Service ensures that clients are in the right place and at the right time. It provides clients with options that enable them to act on their choices, especially regarding course programs, job opportunities, and section assignments.
- Research and Evaluation it is service-oriented activity conducted to discover new knowledge derived from test data and other evaluation result. This activity seeks to collect relevant information to determine program effectiveness.
- SERVICES TO PARENTS
A. Consultation and Collaboration where parents often appeal to the counselor for help in detecting problems or concerns of their children. They also seek assistance in deciding on the proper course of action to correct or remedy such concerns.
B. Family Counseling also is found effective in order to enlist the cooperation of the parents in the guidance process.
C. Information Services where parents seek information about the activities of their child, school policies, attendance, behavior, academic performance, etc. This job of informing parents if performed by the counselor who use the opportunity of giving information to make the parents aware of their child’s problems or achievements and to coordinate with them in implementing certain guidance practices at home.
- SERVICES TO TEACHERS
The counselor often assists teachers in determining the causes of the behavior problems of their students or help teacher gain better understanding of their students’ needs and problems. The counselor may also undertake seminars, trainings, or group discussions with teacher regarding guidance techniques and information that may aid in their dealing with pupils. Offers counseling to teachers regarding professional or personal concerns.
- SERVICES TO SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS
Researchers such as evaluation of the guidance program, survey of pupils’ problems, survey on student’s preference on enrolling in Saint Joseph College (SJC).
- Other services include organization of in-service guidance education seminars, workshops, and similar activities, designed to upgrade the school’s guidance services.
