Traditions
Saint Joseph College in Maasin, Southern Leyte, Philippines has several traditions, including:
- Founding AnniversaryThe college celebrates its founding anniversary with an Opening Mass, Anniversary Parade, and Program.
- All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ DayClasses and work are dismissed early on these days to honor and remember the dearly departed.
- School logoThe college’s logo features the word “PAX” in the center, which means “Peace”. The three-word “GOD, COUNTRY, KNOWLEDGE” represents the belief that peace can be achieved through worship of God, service of country, and pursuit of knowledge.
- Annual playIn the 1950s and 1960s, St. Joseph’s College in Quezon City had an annual play tradition. Plays and musicals such as Cyrano de Bergerac, Pride and Prejudice, and Fiddler on the Roof were staged.
Saint Joseph College is a Catholic educational institution that was founded in 1928 by Bishop Sofronio G. Hacbang. The school’s vision is to provide an excellent education and involvement in social transformation.
